Vague Apparatus is a limited liability company based in Wayne, New Jersey. It is a media and communication firm, serving as the business umbrella for my work in business marketing communication consulting, fiction and non-fiction writing, media production, and professional development (learning webinars, conference speaking, and the like).
I founded the company in anticipation of leaving Deloitte and starting a number of smaller gigs (they wouldn’t be ‘side hustles’ since, technically, by the time they really got started I would no longer have a ‘main hustle’).

Communication consulting
I am available for freelance engagements in:
- Business editorial, including feature articles, ghostwritten leader blog posts, website content, newsletters, and social media posts. This has been my bread and butter for decades, and I’ve delivered on all of those formats and more for large internationals as well as small boutique operations.
- Change strategy and implementation, for companies undergoing a cultural shift, or adopting new processes and standards. I’ve led major change communication on a global scale, coordinated the adoption of a new brand identity, and eased executive anxieties during the consumerization of technology in the enterprise.
- Video development and production. This includes scriptwriting, and coordination of production (I don’t do production myself; although I have extensive experience as a media producer I no longer work directly in that format).
- Skills training and business learning. I have extensive experience in teaching at the university level as well as developing and delivering training material in the corporate environment. For one large international organization, I was responsible for learning content development and delivery for a project so successful it saved the company nearly $100M in opportunity costs. I’ve created and taught modules on project management, business writing, virtual teaming, and social media strategies.
I am available on a flexible-schedule, freelance basis as a consultant on projects large and small. Because of my need to manage multiple concurrent activities, I am not open to temporary, full-time engagements as a contractor. Contact me for pricing, which can be hourly or per-project.
